Day 1: Arrival - Welcome to Tanzania
Upon arrival in Tanzania you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at your leisure—unwind, acclimatise and get ready for the adventure ahead. A relaxed dinner at your hotel will help you recharge.
Day 2: Marangu → Mandara Hut
After breakfast you’ll begin your trek along the Marangu Route. The trail ascends through lush montane forest alive with birds and colobus monkeys. After about 4–5 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Mandara Hut for the night.
Day 3: Mandara Hut → Horombo Hut
The trail continues through open moorland with views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. You’ll pass giant groundsels and lobelias as you gain altitude and arrive at Horombo Hut to rest and acclimatise.
Day 4: Horombo Hut → Kibo Hut
Today’s hike leads you through the alpine desert to Kibo Hut at the base of the summit. The landscape becomes increasingly barren and dramatic. Rest early and prepare for your midnight ascent to the summit.
Day 5: Kibo Hut → Uhuru Peak → Horombo Hut
Your summit day begins around midnight. Hike steadily up to Gillman’s Point and continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa (5,895m). After celebrating at the summit, descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.
Day 6: Horombo Hut → Marangu Gate
Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you’ll complete your Kilimanjaro trek and receive your climbing certificate. Transfer back to your lodge and relax after your achievement.
Day 7: Tarangire National Park → Karatu
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive. The park is known for its large elephant herds, scenic baobabs, and diverse wildlife. Later in the afternoon, continue to Karatu for the evening.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater → Karatu
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife areas. Enjoy game viewing on the crater floor, spotting lions, buffalo, zebras, and possibly the rare black rhino. Return to Karatu in the afternoon.
